Biomed Initiative to Maximize Student Development (IMSD)

 The Initiative for Maximizing Student Development at Brown University (IMSD@Brown) provides graduate students with professional development opportunities, academic support, and a community which enhances success in their PhD programs and makes them highly competitive for the postdoctoral positions and scientific careers of their choice.

Society for the Advancement of Hispanics, Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS), Brown Chapter

The Brown University chapter of the Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) is an inclusive organization for all members of the community interested interested in attaining advanced degrees, careers, and positions of leadership in STEM.

The Brown Center for Students of Color (BCSC) serves as a gathering space for communities of color on campus.

Nabrit Black Graduate Student Association (BGSA)

Named for biologist Samuel Nabrit, Brown's first African-American PhD recipient, the BGSA promotes the intellectual and social environment as well as the professional success of Brown's African American graduate students. Membership is open to all Brown graduate students.

This group helps create a community of and for women in the sciences at Brown University and increases the number of resources available to them. Originally founded for undergraduates, there is now a graduate version (GWiSE).

In conjunction with the Sarah Doyle Women's Center, the LGBTQ Center provides support, resources and advocacy to promote an open, safe and inclusive environment for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning community at Brown. The center also supports Trans resources at Brown.
