Biography

My group studies human fungal pathogens with a focus on understanding the evolution of pathogenesis and drug resistance and applications of new genomic technologies. We are currently focused on understanding the evolution and antifungal resistance of the recently emerged pathogen Candida Auris, on characterizing the genomic basis of drug resistance in other fungal pathogens, on how natural variation and evolution contributes to clinical virulence in Cryptococcus neoformans, and on applications of genomic data to diagnostic development. Our work is highly collaborative, engaging teams of computational biologists, experimental scientists, clinicians, and field researchers.
