Wentian Yang, MD, PhD

Professor of Medicine, Professor of Orthopaedics

Biography

Dr. Yang and his research team study the molecular and cellular mechanisms that regulate bone and cartilage development and homeostasis, particularly emphasizing the roles of protein tyrosine kinases and phosphatases. The team interrogates how these enzymes function under physiological conditions and various disease states, aiming to translate this knowledge into clinical applications. Specifically, they seek to improve therapeutic approaches, advance tissue regeneration strategies, and develop preventive means for skeletal disorders. To achieve their goal, Dr. Yang’s team actively employs a combination of cutting-edge genetic, biochemical, and cellular approaches to uncover new insights into the molecular underpinnings of skeletal disorders and identify potential targets for therapeutic intervention.
